In 2023, the Atelier partnered with AOY Art Center and Lower Makefield Township on Art in the Parks, an outdoor public art initiative that placed eight Seward Johnson sculptures throughout Lower Makefield Township. With works installed in local parks and at Patterson Farm, the project invited residents and visitors to encounter sculpture in everyday settings while participating in a variety of arts, recreation, and community programs.
The installation was accompanied by sculpture strolls, art activities, demonstrations, outdoor gatherings, and other events designed to encourage visitors to explore the works and learn more about Johnson’s approach to bringing familiar moments of everyday life into bronze. AOY members also helped lead sculpture strolls, sharing information about the artist and the process behind the sculptures.
The collaboration continued in 2025 with the installation of Monet, Our Visiting Artist at the AOY Art Center at Patterson Farm. The sculpture was unveiled during a special event on October 24, 2025, and remained on view through October 2026. Inspired by Johnson’s fascination with artists and their creative lives, the work provided a fitting connection to AOY’s focus on art education, creativity, and community engagement.
Across both projects, the partnership with AOY Art Center reflects the Atelier’s commitment to making sculpture accessible beyond traditional gallery and museum settings. By placing Seward Johnson’s work in parks, cultural spaces, and community gathering places, audiences are invited to experience art as part of their everyday surroundings.
The Seward Johnson Atelier is grateful to AOY Art Center for creating opportunities for Seward Johnson’s sculptures to become part of the cultural life of the Yardley and Lower Makefield communities.
