Sculptor Seward Johnson is presented with a medal by Warren Hegg of the Spirit of ’45 organization in front of the Key West, FL art museum. The medal, which has also been presented to Norman Lear and Ernest Borgnine, honors Johnson for his artistry and for the specific meaning and beauty of his sculpture “Embracing Peace,” shown here. The 25-foot tall bronze sculpture, as well as a life-sized casting, have traveled the world (Rome, Normandy, Belgium, San Diego, New York, Detroit) evoking personal histories and serving as a reminder of the heroism of the Greatest Generation.
